In turn-based warfare, you control four mercenaries fighting animals, bandits, and demons. We’ve discussed a lot about management, but not much about combat. (You’ll receive a goal to grow your firm to 10 within a few hours, so that’s a decent benchmark.) The Iron Oath: Use abilities to create an upper hand in combat That should be enough to get you through the early game. In the early stages, just hire and train four replacements for your starters. Hiring a lot of low-level mercs and training them up is excellent, but it’s too expensive. Everyone you recruit in The Iron Oath has a contract, which means you need to maintain more money on hand to pay salaries. It’s crucial to keep your soldiers fresh, but don’t overdo it. So the veterans can hide the inexperience (lower XP and weaker strikes) of the new employees, while the new hires still earn combat experience. However, sending a whole bunch of newcomers out on their own doesn’t make sense. You’ll eventually need backups to keep up. Characters will grow fatigued, injured (or dead), or just ask for a break. It won’t take long in The Iron Oath for you to want to increase your levels. Aside from saving money for payroll, it makes sense to save money for gear that significantly enhances your stats. Consider holding resources until the price drops.Įach city’s gear will be unique. While you could receive half the price for wood in one place, you’ll get more than double that in another. Each item’s average selling price (or “base rate”) is shown along with the sale price (what you’ll really receive). These influence chance roadside encounters or the cost of commodities. These show the present situation – bandit activity, increasing commerce, poor weather, or harmful animals. Examine the circular symbols floating left of each city. You’ll be switching between cities, kingdoms, and regions a lot. Always consider this before you spend money on somewhat better gear.
